RACING ROYALTY – triple British Superbike Champion John Reynolds – met up with motorcycle technicians at the specialist motorcycle repair centre of nationwide claims management company, Plantec Holdings Ltd, based in Kingswinford.
Superbike ace Reynolds lunched with the Plantec team, talking about his racing career and signing T-shirts for the bike-mad crew. He also gave away a couple of his signed autobiographies to staff who answered correctly to Reynolds racing trivia.
John has spent 35 years racing motorcycles in high-speed pursuit of his dreams, winning six British Championship titles and making his mark in World Superbikes and 500cc Grand Prix racing along the way. He retired in October 2005 after suffering serious injuries in a horrific 140mph crash at race track, Brands Hatch.
John gave an account of the crash to an open–mouthed audience, but still insisted that Brands was his favourite track – despite his close call with death. He laughed and joked with the Plantec crew as they shared their biking experience and indulged in track talk.
Anthony Howarth, Operations Manager, said: “As a claims management company specialising in motorcycle claims, all of our staff have a keen interest in both the bikes and the sport of motorcycle-racing.
“Knowing how passionate our repair centre team are about the Superbikes, we thought it would be a nice surprise to have one of their heroes visit them and tell them about their experience on the race track – and John certainly had a lot to recount!”
