CLAIMS MANAGEMENT specialist Plantec Holdings raised a whopper of a sum for Comic Relief after the managing director forked out £500 for a bacon butty!

Lee Evans, MD at Plantec Holding’s on Bispham Road, High Park, boosted the fundraising effort by buying Southport’s most expensive sandwich, which saw the company make nearly £900 for the charity.

Managers and supervisors at the claims management company kitted themselves out in fancy dress and served up the bacon sarnies to colleagues in exchange for a charitable donation.

Lee, who is one of the three owners of the company, said: “It was the best bacon sandwich I’ve probably had for a while!"

“I said I’d double whatever they raised on the day so that we could donate a sizeable amount. It was a great day and everyone got involved. Some of the managers handed out the bacon sandwiches dressed in costumes such as Cruella de Vil and the Pink Panther. I had a meeting that day though so couldn’t really go to that in a costume!”

Special projects manager Barry Potter said: “We raised £893 and all had great fun. We were glad to be able to do something fun for charity because it is such a good cause. We’ll definitely be doing it again next year.”
